|A Tradition Since 1932
CBYC was proud to be host for the Junior Olympic Sailing Festival for Area J. As part of a nationwide series of sailing regattas for youth ages 8 to 21. Each event in this family of regattas is hosted by a different club or organization, but all events share a common goal: to encourage young sailors to enjoy sailing and to develop their skill. Events mix Olympic-style competition with elements of learning and fun for all levels--from beginning racers to those with Olympic aspirations. This year 30 events are planned for waters in the continental United States and Hawaii and over 4,000 sailors are expected to compete. Junior Olympic Sailing is coordinated by US Sailing.
Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club is an active racing club and hosts many regional and national level regattas. We have hosted, J80's, I14 National Championships, 29er's, Opti North American Championships, and of course Cal20 Championships. Additionally, we have a number of offshore races each year including the "Around Catalina" race in joint organization with Dana Point Yacht Club. This race is also part of the YRUSC Offshore Championship, Dana Point Offshore Championship, and the Ullman Sails Offshore Championship.
CBYC hosts one of the largest fleets of Cal 20's in Southern California. The boat is a perfect match to our Hurricane Gulch conditions. Fun, simple, economical and rewarding to the sailor. Our one design fleets, Cal20, Mecury, and 29er's sail throughout the year and weekly from May through September.
